Future Visions

Lunsford W. Bridges

“Reflecting on all the changes that we have seen in the downtown area since Metropolitan National Bank first located its headquarters here in 1985, I am simply amazed. The Clinton Presidential Library, River Market, ChamberCenter, StatehouseConvention Center, ALLTEL Arena and Dickey-StephensPark are all examples of the dynamic evolution of our center city.  And the success of these extraordinary facilities and business centers has now given rise to a boom in residential and mixed-use properties in downtown Little Rock such as the Capital Commerce Center and 300 Third Tower.  The momentum is undeniable.

The rejuvenated spirit of downtown has also been a key element to the continued transformation of our city. It is a top destination for conferences, tourism, new business, entertainment, and, of course, “Nearby and Neighborly®” banking.  The downtown renaissance has filled our entire city with an air of excitement, pride and vitality; and Metropolitan National Bank is proud to be a part of the development and growth of a truly world-class community.”

America’s Newest Destination

“For over 35 years, the Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau has been an integral part of the redevelopment of downtown Little Rock.  We are proud to be involved in the continued revitalization and enrichment of this area.  It is the center of a dynamic and expansive city, with a culture rich in arts, entertainment and educational opportunities.

As an organization dedicated to bringing meetings, conventions and events to the city, our role is to market the city of Little Rock to business and leisure travelers.  The progress within the downtown area, and within the entire city, including distinctive restaurants, endless shopping and luxurious hotels, continues to attract these visitors by the thousands.

The opening of the William J. Clinton Presidential Center and Park forever changed the downtown area, as well as the whole city, transforming Little Rock into a national and international destination for travelers.  Subsequent events such as the opening of the Heifer International Headquarters and the 10th Anniversary of the River Market have continued to place our city in the spotlight, as will the upcoming 50th anniversary of the integration of CentralHigh School.

The Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau supports and applauds the redevelopment of the downtown area.  Now a place to live, work and play, downtown Little Rock has become a unique and eclectic part of our capital city.  We are excited to be in the midst of such a vibrant area and look forward to the future of Little Rock; America’s Newest Destination.”
